Taking Life

As cold as this gun in my hands, And just as hard as the steel, Though by Holy commands, I am instructed never to kill. A war rages within me, A battle of darkness and of light, Uncle Sam's soldier in the Army, Asking me to fight. Take life as instructed, Receive orders and do what I'm told, Sending souls to the Heavens, Hoping I can make it home. Is it just an illusion? A lie my mind speaks to me? Or will I receive His blessing, And be taken into his arms eternally?
