Take It To the Pens
I'm fighting a war but I'm at peace when I take it to the pens
When you go through tough times as a boy, you're supposed to make it out as men
You need to go to church to escape from all your sins
But I'll find my redemption when I take it to the pens
I've been down and out for a while but now I'm rising up
I fell out of love with poetry for a while, but now I've got the writing touch
I was swimming with the sharks, now I'm having a bite for lunch
Depression had me in the corner, I had to become Mike Tyson to strike a punch
I move the pen slow but I write fast
Making the pad bleed as nights pass
I made it through storms where some people would have died at
As long as I get back up from every fall I can't have my pride snatched
This world will leave you chewed up and spat out like bubblegum
I just dealt with an issue now I'm going through another one
How can you count me out when you see what I've recovered from?
I write what's on my mind and there isn't an issue I stutter on
I'm fighting a war but I'm at peace when I take it to the pens
When you go through tough times as a boy, you're supposed to make it out as men
You need to go to church to escape from all your sins
I'll find my redemption when I take it to the pens
