Sympathy
Sympathy
opens my heart
when sensibleness
warns me to keep it shut.
There's danger lurking
in your gaping mouth.
Sweet words soon turn sour.
I risk getting hurt,
sympathy driving me
to rescue, to fix
the underdog,
though I know
you want to be loved,
not pitied.
