Notes About The Poem

Sweet Torment in Shadows

knowing...

if stars should fade when I'm with you
and darkness reigns in midnight blue
I would croon while we rendezvous
   sultry lyrics in your ear...
love songs of a balladeer

whispers fondling your neck and face
   caressing each exotic place
'til breathless in my warm embrace
   there's teasing with finger tips
and tasting from parted lips

our passion stirs without disguise
your need escapes in moans and sighs
I kiss the lids of your closed eyes
there's beauty found in the dark...
when a kiss ignites a spark

our tongues entwine like flames of fire
for want of more, we both conspire
carnal fervor transcends desire
both yearning to sate this thirst...
ardor nearing a cloudburst

in night's gloaming, we were discreet
   fulgent beauty, tryst in retreat
love evidenced with each heartbeat
   dazzling hours of sweet torment...
in shadows our time was spent

   sweet torment... in shadows

Dear Lin, congratulations for your sizzling success in Gregory’s contest with your luscious, sensuous poem. “ardor nearing a cloudburst” - wow! Sweet torment, indeed! Warmest wishes, my poet friend.. ~Susan

Lin, you have the ability to write about so many different subjects. This certainly elucidates the passion of being in love or at least attracted strongly to another. We'd hope lovers could experience their love openly, but alas...sometimes it's not acceptable. I suppose shadows will always do when a motel room is not available. They could also be a metaphor for something we need to hide. Food for thought!! Smiles!!

A touch in the dark heightens the senses. It doesn’t matter where or when. It matters who. Thanks, Duke.

Bit of a cardio workout for you, John? Not looking for an Adam. I'm glad you enjoyed it... or I'm thinking you did. ;-)
