Sweet Lilac Breeze

Sweet Lilac Breeze Lavender lilacs in full bloom today budded in April now blooming in May They bloom every spring when most things renew I'm always thrilled with their yearly debut A splendid perfume that lilac filled air I brought some inside to place by my chair Light breezes float in their soft scent at night It helps me dream sweetly til morning light The bees can't resist those blossoms so sweet Then flying home drunk on that pollen treat A bird built her nest and made it her home Not far from that branch did she ever roam Her babies were raised in those lilac trees Surrounded by blooms and sweet lilac breeze. (Entered 5-5-2017 - "May Day Standard" contest By Brian Strand) (Selected - 2nd place)

Ok, I did find where it was listed that this was chosen in the drawing ... a second place win. I actually thought I would be somehow notified if I won any contest. I only know because of your kind comments and then I searched. So, that being said, I would like to Thank You all again for your support. :)

Thanks Darren :) So perfect that you can see and smell those lilacs. It is exactly what I get every time I read this over and what I tried to portray with it. Thank you for telling me that :) Happy Sunday to you !!

Hi, I don't think this contest has drawn yet. You may be confused by my post script at the bottom of my poem saying that I entered the contest with this entry. But... Thank you and I'm happy you like this :)

This was gorgeous Lenna. Lilacs are one of my favorite flowering shrubs which unfortunately do you grow where I live now. But where I grew up every spring you could smell the fragrance on the air. Your poem brings nature in a poetic fashion to me. I love each line and the bird building its nest in the shrub and never traveling far....that was fantastic. Wonderfully done my friend.

Thank You, Thank You :) (as my heart does a little happy dance from your generous review). The lilac bushes in my yard are now trees. Along with Honeysuckle, Lilac is my favorite flower scent. I truly enjoyed watching that Robin and her nest of babies. It just low enough for me to peek in & the best part is when she was teaching them to fly, it was all truly a pleasure for me.. Blessings my friend !! :)
