Survivor

Who said that sticks and stones will break my
bones but words will never hurt me?

What a load of crap, I get it was probably a defense
mechanism and all but it's untrue.

Vicious words are like an lethal injection to the soul.
I’m still healing and recovering from hurtful words.

I may look fine on the outside but there’s so much
scar tissue within.

My scars run deep, they went through bone and into
the soul.

The perpetrators have no shame and remorse and
I have a valid reason to hate but I refuse to because
hate is like cancer to the soul.

I already have too many scars, so the next time you
can't tame your tongue think of me and others like me

I refuse to give up on my healing process because my
goal is to be a survivor.

That is such a strong way of thinking, Alexis. More power to you for being a true soul-jah of faith. You spare no words in slamming the haters. Keep on keeping it real. Excellent poem, dear. Love and peace always.

You tell em Alexis - what a powerful pen Bravo to standing up to the bullies who have nothing better to do that cause harm by their vicious words - its so so sad as no one can actually see the damage they doing to a person as their scars are on the inside and cannot be seen but the pain is intense:-( hugs Jan xx

Amen to that. Those cuts run deep and can open up again when you least expect it. Cathartic pen.

You already are a survivor Alexis. Your strength shows in this poem . AND you are right words can hurt more than a physical punch and stay in the mind. Well expressed poem. Take care! :)
