Surrender

The smile vanished from the yellow orb, angry clouds swoop in Gentle waters drift to shore no more, as white-capped waves storm in Birds flee south; animals take cover; my will perceptibly weakens Soft breezes carry knives inside; fence-gates ajar and creaking Cabanas shuttered, boarded up; hardy anglers sense defeat Autumnal gales blow full force... Summer's shamed, full-fledged retreat Februry 17, 2019 Entry in "Reflect that Emotion" Contest Sponsor: Nina Parmenter

Gershon, summer’s surrender to autumn’s hostile takeover is expressed with vivid imagery and with the gusto of the gathering gale. A stirring piece on the transition of seasons. Best wishes for a win and warmest wishes for you always, my dear friend.. ~Susan

Lol! You crack me up, my friend. No, I haven’t found another, you’re still my one and only Gershon, Gershon:)) Life’s circumstances has severely limited my time here at PS since the holidays, hopefully I’ll have more time here again soon. You’re still a sailor with a lighthouse, come what may :)) ~SA

Susan, I am so glad to hear from you... I had almost given up all hope, frankly---figuring that you had found another Gershon somewhere... Just crossing my fingers that it's not true... For if 'twere, I'm much as the sailor without the lighthouse in the raging storm... LOL. Wishing you winter's best (if there is such a thing). :) gw

the chill coming in and winter closing in just behind the fall, having to give up on summer... And in life the concession that summer is past and having to take our aching backs into the next season... :)

Fabulous imagery in this one; very realistic image that reminds me of a certain vacation that wasn't.
