Surreal Stars Viceral Dreams

As i looked up to the sky

The darkness ever so slightly dissipated

And was replaced by the majesty, grace,
wonder and beauty

Of a billion plus stars

Some so large, bright and close

It felt like i could wrap my world around them

And most surreal of all

Was i wasn't actually dreaming

This was visceral

This was real

A infinite universe of celestial graveyards

Beyond the earths ceiling

Starring directly back at me

Whilst driving through the Karoo desert post midnight

A night of time travelling comes to mind. I could stare at stars all night, I share your wonder. I especially love "infinite universe of celestial graveyards".

You said it Christopher infinite and that’s why it can never end we’re part of the infinity, also new stellar nurseries alongside the graveyards swapping particles, everything is recycled even us Great imagery in this poem cheers David

Cheers David i and my family are from Liverpool but i spent half of my life and grew up in Johannesburg. This is 1 of my favorite poem's and memories. I tried my very best here to desribe it but it still doesnt do it justice. Never before or since have i felt so spiritual at 1 with nature small , inconsequential or in total awe yet content and happy at the same time in the knowledge of being a small part of something so much bigger. It was my very own equivalent of traveling into space or walking on the moon. I'll never forget it my once in a lifetime experience
