Sunset

Gently sinks the sun
below the West horizon
staining the sky red

Then, as the night flows
blending the color palette
from fire red to deep violet

The colors between
more beautiful than fine silk
Soft as deep velvet

One by one come stars
For a brief moment, a hush
bringing nights sweet peace
