Strong poem. I would still like to go to Venezuela. Probably would not get travel insurance ...

Ha, ha: Rolling electrical blackouts, murderous gangs roaming the country, no food on the shelves of stores, the dictator propped up by a military ready to kill anyone with dares speak against Maduro -- sounds like an ideal vacation to me. Maybe Afghanistan or Iraq for something a bit more peaceful and stable... :) gww

Gershon, maybe folks are a bit foggy on what is going on there at present. Oh, Arafat was there? Oy! Da news.does not tell us they have to eat or steal pets to cook for dinner. I am sure most Americans don't know what's going on there. We don't appreciate our freedoms here. Hence the density on Socialism. Well done GW

Maybe folks are more than 'a bit' foggy on the sitch in Venezuela AND on how socialism has been shown to be a proven loser (!) over the past 100 years.... As for Arafat, maybe I wasn't clear. He and his henchmen wrecked Lebanon. I was comparing his wrecking crew to those who have wrecked Cuba, Venezuela, etc. At any rate, you are so right about Americans not appreciating the freedoms we (still) have here. :) gw

Venezuela is beautiful...I know it... the conquistadors are still plundering the natural resources...the system they are trapped in could never work....Nice one for awareness...

I think 'Venezuela WAS beautiful' is the sad truth today. It's the Lebanon of South America. Lebanon used to be the Switzerland of the Middle East, as you may recall---until Arafat and his not-so-merry men ravaged it in the 1970's. Now Hezbollah's in charge. ~ gw
