Sunny Side Up

Sunny Side Up By Elton Camp It’s my favorite breakfast food of all Delicious eggs filled with cholesterol Scrambled they can come out too dry So sometimes poaching them I’ll try But they way I like them cooked best That is far superior to any of the rest The white is set, but a runny yellow I am not at bit afraid of Salmonella But symptoms began the very next day Twas off to the bathroom without delay And so to enter the hospital I was fated Because I became too badly dehydrated Now when eggs I decide that I’ll eat, The most safe cooking can’t be beat I never again expect that I’ll decide To eat another egg called sunny side

Hey Wilma, Only a small percentage of eggs contain Salmonella, although it varies by the company selling them. You might eat undercooked eggs for years without a problem, or one time might make you sick. The greatest danger is to the young, the old, and those with immune system problems. But the risk of Salmonella is far from zero. You might want to ask your doctor the next time you are in. I am in the "old" category, so I only eat eggs thoroughly cooked. Elton

This is so funny, Elton! I didn't know you could get salmonella from eggs, but I only eat them scrambled. If you put tiny bits of cheese in the egg batter, the scrambled eggs won't be too dry. You really had me laughing, my friend. Love, Carolyn

That's why eggs are usually not what I eat. Once again Elton, you have described everything quite well with your words and rhyme. I have just chosen you as a favorite poet.
