Sunny Side Up
Hens in a hen house all wanted to cook
Some would bake and some would look
They didn’t have dough, so bread they did not
But plenty of eggs which they scrambled a lot.
They got bored with the same ol’ style
Tossed in some new herbs of sesame,
Delighted the taste was a great success
They decided to advance their cooking process
Made omelets with cheese covered with paprika
A mighty fine dish which they announced “eureka”
One egg fell to the floor and was admired how it laid flat
“Gee” said one hen, “can’t we do something with that”?
They had many ideas to make it a delight
One wanted to roll it but wasn’t just right.
Another said to fry it with a dash of nutmeg
Turned out to be the best doggone fried egg.
They flipped it over and flip it twice
debating which would be rather nice
to have it on plate or in a cup
little chick said “how about sunny side up”?
