Sun Rescue

As the sun goes down And darkness fills the air My depression rises It’s more than I can bear. My life seems so fragile I dread joining the dead My eyes start their weeping As I lie in my bed. I struggle to be still But my mind is consumed With jealous forebodings Each betrayal exhumed. And the night drags on The nightmares won’t cease I wait for the morning To bring me release. The sky changes color The black turns to grey The stars start to fade As I continue to pray. The sun makes an entrance Golden rays kiss my face My frozen heart thaws I’m in a better place. I bask in the soft light As my demons all flee Inner joy bubbles up The sun has rescued me!

I cannot tell you how many times I have been there, lying in bed waiting for that sun to rescue me. Such a heartwarming poem. We must endure through the depression to witness the beauty of a brand new day. I really love the fifth stanza - prayer is an amazing weight lifter. This poem will melt a frozen heart. I appreciate the sunshine tonight. Always, Laura

Awesome, there is always a light, sometimes it seems as if it will never come, but when it does it is so warm and refreshing :) I enjoyed this :)

Thanks, Cas....there is a double meaning here as well. I take my anti-depressant in the morning... ;) Night times are tough for me...Morning is a new lease on life. Thanks for reading...

lovely fine piece Eileen, really nicely done, so well penned as it gives us anticipation of the sunshine, certainly not much of it here in Scotland this week. take care, Gordon

I'm glad it ended on a positive note. I'm sorry you deal with these dark moments. This probably explains why you are such a deep emotive writer.
