Summer Storm

Flashes of lightning
across the dark sky
the rumble of thunder
rolls like beating drums
resounding over the heavens
then a sound of silence
rain slowly starts to drop
upon the dry parched earth
gaining speed to a steady beat
drenching all
one big crack
like a cymbal it awakens
 all within hearing distance
slowly it starts to dissipate
the tears from heaven stop
mist slowly draws in
closing the curtain
as a blanket of white
turns all to nothingness.

Cheers, Phyllis. Sounds good as we climb away from the bottom of a northern hemisphere winter.
