Notes About The Poem

Summer Splendour

watching the sunrise

            sunken treasure

             comes to light

You make writing a Haiku appear effortless. With less syllables then what is traditionally called for. Remarkable poem Paul!

You have a keen eye, MC:) Yes, modern haiku/senryu are not tied to the 5/7/5 syllable count. Less restrictions produce a better flow. Have a look at the site "A Hundred Gourds"...there are many suitable short form poems which I'm sure you will find of interest. ~ Regards // paul

WoW. Fantastic, Paul. There you go again ... what a beautiful description of the sun coming out of the sea ... "sunken treasure" ... I was thinking about entering, but I was too late. In any case, this would have been tough to compete with, for sure, even if I did enter. I don't often fave haiku, but I would like to remember this one :)

Thank you for the lovely comments and the fav, Timothy. Don't be disappointed...but I did not enter it for the contest...I entered an older poem instead, not a top contender, but being on the winners' list is enough for me. Regards // paul
