X F Lacasse Contest ~ Summer Sonnets ~ 7/17/25

Sultry ~ the days of sizzling summer heat when wildflowers bloom in meadows and fields. The warm embrace of sunlight never yields and on the horizon— sea and sky meet. I traipse across a beach of golden sand— chasing ~waves~ where my feet playfully tread. Hoards of hungry seagulls fly overhead~ fishing for lunch— feathered wings fully spanned! "Love~ you'll find me each night on my porch swing, watching the twinkling lights of fireflies dance— recalling our summer nights of romance... listening to songs the nightingales sing!" Wind softly blowing through moss-draped oak trees— magnolia scent~ wafting on Summer's breeze.

Lin, it's a beautiful scene and attitude that you portray. Sounds like a wonderful day and evening. Thank you for sharing this as it's a real gift for anyone who lives land-locked or anyone who just can't make it to the beach. Smiles!

A beautiful summer sonnet Lin, and you capture its very essence by using (all) the senses, I’m pretty sure you were well aware of, when writing this well polished piece, exquisite just like Jan says below, cheers David

Thanks a bunch, Jan. There's a strong summer breeze blowing at me across the lake today. Summer squalls from a tropical system. Now, I'll be singing that one, too! ;-)
