Sugar and Pumpkin

Sugar and Pumpkin are my moms two cute cats.
They love to chase bugs and they love to chase rats.
Indoor cats they have been all their lives..
So the outdoors is scarry but to them it still jives.
Pumpkin's the sweet one and never tries to get out.
But Sugar will hide and watch without a doubt.
And when that door opens, she streaks across the floor.
And then without thinking she runs out the door.
She runs through the yard and goes straight for the fence.
And then she gets scared and doesn't have any sense.
She will come running to the backdoor so fast.
Her escape trips she takes, don't ever last.
Pumpkin will lie on your lap and let you pet her.
She is so loving and you can feel her purr.
Now Sugar's not loving and she's liable to slap.
And never can you get her to sit on your lap.
They both love to run and play chase in the house.
Sugar chases Pumpkin who has the little toy mouse.
They will go hide if a stranger comes in,
and not show themselves again in the den.
But the cutest and sweetest thing that they do.
Is in the evening around eight and it's true.
They will come to mom with very sleepy eyes
She knows it's their bedtime because of their cries.
They will follow her to their own little bathroom
Where she will feed them and tuck them in like a cocoon.
