Suddenly Swans
Listless as a hazy morn
a cold and colorless scene hides
beneath gray skies that wilt beneath
moody clouds and musty brown leaves.
Lazy river flows in sluggish slow motion
random debris drags at its heels
chill air freezes both mind and soul
when...suddenly swans!
Regal white visions of splendor appear
gliding side by side, swimming languidly
lovely, long necks raise high
with fanfare wings neatly tucked in.
Effortlessly they glide with silky serenity
every movement leaves a lovely, rippling wake
like watery, abstract art.
Such glorious, stately birds uplift the spirit
a pure scene wrought from heaven itself
a foretaste of all things eternal.
