Stupid Monkeys
when i fell asleep
he was talking war again.
"hate doesn't kill people,"
he was saying,
"adrenaline does."
even when you're winning,
you're full of fear.
turning up
soulless nu-metal,
staring through himself
& past the traffic
in front of us,
he was saying,
"you can't be human
anymore, not if you
want to stay alive."
you always have to give
up what you are,
to have any chance at
survival.
why is it that rules of
war
dictate the rules of
civilization?
maybe we can figure it out
before we're all dead.
stupid monkeys.
