Strong Enough To Be

Can you be always strong for me?
Can I please hide behind you?
While you hold my trembling self,
Will you carry me? Please do?

I promise I will have your back
But can you then shield me?
Until I'm strong enough to live,
And strong enough to be?

I rest my head against your neck...
The world's a frightening place.
Can you slowly introduce me there?
At a calm, relaxing pace?

Until I'm strong enough to wheel
Me to the front to carry
You in my lap and in my heart,
For all the world to see?
