Strong Enough

This is a night just like any others
Silent conversations
Lying next to each other
With words that want to escape
But never get the chance

It’s my worst fear
To let them out
And just be met with more silence than there was before
And that’s exactly what’s happening right now.

I don’t know
I don’t know why we break so hard
But if we’re strong enough to let it in
Then we are strong enough to let it go.

If we keep it in
For far too long
Then one of us might be long gone

We waited too long
And now I have to go
Just know I wanted it different
Just know I wanted to try.

I don’t know
I don’t know why we have to break so hard
But if we were strong enough to let it in
Then we were strong enough to let it go.
