Strings Attached

Your love comes with strings attached
Each dainty string has a message
Only I can see
Each one reveals
How I must behave
What I must feel
How I must look
What I must think
Strings….
You’ve made them pretty
Colorful
Enticing
But they are strings nonetheless

The gift of your love has strings
I’m afraid to open it
Afraid to get entangled
In the strings of your
Demands
Wants
Needs
Expectations

And so………..
I take out the scissors of truth
Snip, snip, snip
Clip, clip, clip
Rip, rip, rip
Ah…..here…a free gift of love
I accept it!
I ACCEPT IT!
My darling,
Didn’t you know
That my little heart
Comes…………..
With no strings attached?
