Stricter Gun Control Legislation

Gun control measures fall on the GOP’s deaf ears As a hue and cry goes up for stricter gun legislation, Right-wing-leaning politicians have their NRA fears. I suspect we’ll see in the Congress great hesitation In the end, a failure to respond to the public demands, As a hue and cry goes up for stricter gun legislation. In the halls of Congress, it seems no one understands, Token nods will be made, but nothing substantial done In the end, a sick failure to respond to public demands. Except for the gun lobbyists, no victories will be won They will have paid for public policy going their way, Token nods will be made, but nothing substantial done. We anticipate another school shooting almost any day They know in time another school shooting will occur They will have paid for public policy going their way. (Let’s not let the next election ballot be merely a paper Vote out any politician who blocks a gun control law They know in time another school shooting will occur.) If we were not sheep "(Let’s not let the next election ballot be merely a paper Vote out any politician who blocks a gun control law They know in time another school shooting will occur.)" we would, but alas, so many sheep live here now!

Unfortunately. And some of these politicians have whole districts and cities in their pockets. I simply don't understand why people vote against their own best interests, but they do.

Great write, Milton! You seem to be our main voice of truth. CNN showed Canada's gun laws and then ours. It's embarrassing. The gun lobby is fierce. We have to try to overcome it. No individual needs weapons that were designed to kill many, many people in a war.

Indeed, Ann. And I shall continue to speak out for effective gun control measures. I have been told knives kill, too, but a knife couldn't have gained entry to that Uvalde classroom. I've been told cars kill, but I have yet to hear of a car entering a classroom, killing innocent children.

Is it a generation thing Milt, i wonder, i see so much killing on video games and some on my grandsons tablet also. I think they and guns should be banded to the public, although knowing the evil doers will always manage to get there hands on weapons if they want. Well written poem, there is much need to speak out, about this subject. Harry

Second, all countries have mental health issues, yet these do not have mass shootings. Of course is not zero, however when guns are illegal, the cost to get an illegal one becomes much higher, therefore less accessible to the general population. Australia is an excellent example of this being implemented. Peoples use all kinds of logical arguments, I look at places where things work verses where they do not. :)

Well a few points, first this issue is only in the USA, South Korea has the biggest per capita gamer's, and not only their murder rate but over all violent crime rate is far lower, the issue of violent games is a red herring.

Guns don't kill people. People kill people. If they can't get a gun they will find another way to maim, kill and destroy innocent people because they are mad as a hatter. These vicious people are predators and they always find a way. God Bless my friend. JB

Judy, I'm afraid the cliche "Guns don't kill people. People kill people" is simply NOT true. People WITH GUNS kill people. If there were no guns or bullets, no one would die from a gunshot! If there had been no gun at Uvalde, nineteen children would still be alive. Think about it. It's more than a matter of semantics.

Then how do you explain all the other western nations that do not have these mass shootings? they still have people mad as a hatter, they just don't have guns. People kill people with Guns.
