Street Cred

Houses on parade
Guards to civilisation
A great divide between man and space
Escapism opposed to reality

Sentinels stand at either end of street
Neighbourhood watch
Dangerous tongues gossip
Prepare for another onslaught

Originally this was written having witnessed idle neighbourhood gossip and seeing on the news the devaluing of whole neighbourhoods both in price and humanity of social standards... To se the ugliness of the tongue used as sword and then the putting in of windows and doors and the terror of all that follows is a kind of war on our doorsteps we seem to forget inside our own cosy homes/lives... Appreciate your thoughts/review.

Enjoyed reading your work..The line about the dangerous gossip was a line that made me not sure about the true message of the poem..I am thinking do the sentinels stand in watch to guard against the gossip?...If so, I think the poem is funny..If not, then I don't know what might be happening..Something bad that a neighborhood watch is in progress...Enjoyed reading which ever way it should go..Sara

Hi Sara sorry for my late reply I seemed to miss this one... It was originally written warning against the gossiping tongues of neighbours causing stret wars... How cold and oppressed some areas of society can become, how low life can become and all because of sheer nastiness of tongue... Appreciate your thoughts.
