Strawberries
Strawberries bleeding onto my thumb,
The blood pulses, my heart is numb.
The juice that trickles onto my pale lips,
So sweet; but failing, my heart soon slips
Into the same stupor of silent mourning
As the strawberries, ripe and rotting.
