Straight For Gay

Often made to feel you’re less Should you care any more? Can you escape the cruelty, while occupying your own shore? People remain unbalanced, by only seeing you one way. For their minds travel Straight, they can’t understand Gay! The world has moved on, so kiss guys or kiss girls. Embrace Straight, Gay, Bisexual or polyamorous with curls. Yes, it shouldn’t matter, love happens between the ears. Yet sadly all some can do is label others as Queers. We each have our own needs all ashamed and sorta broken. Fearing what others might discover elemental desires remain unspoken. Where you place your bits in private shouldn’t matter to her him or me Freely embrace your sensual self, Holding back is insanity. So pass me a rainbow flag To celebrate each one of you. We can all come together to support the many and the few. If I have used any of my descriptors in a way that is offensive please let me know. I am in a state of learning.

A massive well done Richard. This is something I feel so strongly about, especially since I’ve seen first hand my daughter go through it. I absolutely love this :-) x

A very thoughtful, humane poem, Richard. Although my personal beliefs eschew homosexuality, I am also Christian tolerant of other people lifestyle choices. Live and let live ... God created us all. Powerful poetry, my dear friend. It's been a while, but I always enjoy your poetic insights. Love and more love always.

Hi Richard, this is a well written piece. No one has the right to tell us what we should be. It should be each individuals choice. I have no right, God-given or not, to judge anyone. wE HAve to be able to live as we choose. A creative way to put forward your thoughts on the subject, Richard. There are much worse things in this world than a persons sexual preference. That seems so wrong to me. You wonder what comes next. Well done Richard. Have a wonderful evening. A fave.....Mike.

People are too quick to judge; when we get to know one another better; we often find that we are not that different. Diversity gifts the world with many wonderful souls. We must all recognize one another's right to live and choose for ourselves.

I agree Andrea. Their preference of who they want to be with is of no consequence to me. Everyone has a right to be in a loving and fullfilling relationship.

Great poem Rick. A topic that so many have a hard time writing or talking about. I'll never understand how someone can judge another just because of who they are. Congratulations on POTD. Charlie

We are admonished to love everyone, and I can't not love the gays I know for be they man or woman, they are kind people. It's easier to love them than it is to love snooty and self-righteous people whose noses are so high they have to stay in when it rains to keep from drowning. Am I judging? Congratulations, Richard.
