At a certain diner I often stop It's super cheap; they serve such slop Afterward, a broom and a mop, Then on the pot 'til there's a plop

I think I may have visited this diner once or twice as well. A moving poem if I ever read one.

GERSHON! Such delightfully honest imagery and humor. Thinking of you, Pangie xx PS.,was thinking of the old Stop and Shop at Six corners in Chicago,decades ago! -)))) doubt it is still there. It was in the basement of a huge Sears!

Ha, ha! I honestly was trying to think of that store's name (Stop & Shop) while I was writing this ditty, but couldn't come up with it. Thanks for the reminder... And as you predicted, the Stop & Shop is long, long gone, while the Sears went down about two-plus years ago. It was the last Sears in Chicago. An era passed. O.K.
