Notes About The Poem

Quebec, settled by the French, Irish, and Scottish have many things in common with their homelands. Here in Quebec, we too have a separatist movement, that a few times lost a referendum on separation.

I have seen so much division, when today, we have more in common than that which divides us. No one with a flag or a piece of paper can take away who you are. I have seen so much division in this world in my travels, including the middle east. In this new global word, we are stronger together. This is just my view and no matter, as democracies, the people always decide. Either way I love all my Scottish brothers, no matter.

Stone of the Past

Cavemen
carved stones
into tribal wars
mans battle curse

Men will kill
over the color of a flag
old ways must be lowered
to half mast

United Kingdoms
morphed into today's democracies
where men are equal
and women sleep in peace

Kings are symbols of history
stones, inanimate objects
worshiped by fools
Scotland voted to be united and free

History's no reason for division
common values now unite
we learn of gods wisdom
with love, never division

Now a land of the people
of values and not ones ancestry
we have no masters
therefore no separation

The brave
the Pipes and drums
march proud towards future dreams
my Scotland, my future

United by God or face the gun

History has changed a lot through the years, but hatred and wars, it still goes on for domination and power. The young, women, and the old they don't matter to them they are merely "expendables and casualties of war
