Stone Garden

the cemetery is still this Autumn day as rain falls like kisses of love on my cheeks to mingle with my tears . . . memories have shook the ocean of my sleep so, I have come to this stone garden that is beautiful and forlorn all is leaf-strewn with hundreds of hues as I walk the winding path . . . I am sinking into the atmosphere (into a trance) the day old flower I carry is wilted and I touch it's still smooth decaying petals why must it die so quickly . . . like my child who did not even gasp one breath oh, I am lost in a sea of headstones _________________________ November 1, 2020 Poetry/Free Verse/stone garden Copyright Protected, ID 11-1317-390-01 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Contsance La France Submitted into the Standard contest, Podium Placing Promise (2) sponsor, Brian Strand, Judged, 12/31/20 First Place

Congratulations on your win. I have had friends who had the pain of losing a child. So sorry. Have you read the book: "Heaven is for Real" True Story. A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. Cover has a young boy on it, with yellow and orange. It is a great book. I think you would like it. In the back of the book, it talks about a young girl. Look up her work. "Amazing" Enjoy your win.................

wow, so good, Constance. I think I must be confused about the latest contest. I am seeing long poems for it! I only gave a two-line poem, so I think I am facing another loss! This is PERFECTO

Your poem is heartbreaking, Constance. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child. It is always a somber time when we walk through cemeteries, even if we don't know the souls who rest there. A fave for me, dear. May 2021 bring better times your way! Love, Carolyn

Carolyn, thank you for your comment, compassion. I find the quiet in cemeteries very calming but they are not silent if you listen, the rustle of leaves, the birds calling, the squirrels and chipmunks .. you just need to listen, thank you so much for the FAV _ Constance
