Demeaning, degrading this is how you feel about your situation Eating away at the person you once were Memory short term, yours is decreasing at an alarming pace Embarrassed when you can’t remember someone you knew well No longer able to do the things you once so enjoyed Time means nothing now as more frequently you live in the past, Imagination plays tricks but the things you see and hear aren’t real All I wish is I could have you back as you once were Written 7th March 2014

It was written about mum she has short term memory loss caused by a fall in 2009 - she really is a remarkable lady and despite everything we have been through with dad's death and moving into a care home she is so so precious to me :-) to me she is mum with a little bit missing - she doesn't have full blown dementia but does struggle with her memory then again at 93 she is allowed to be a little forgetful!:-) hugs Jan xx

mum is 92 and amazing Cynthia - thankfully she doesn't have full scale dementia but memory loss as a result of a fall in 2009 but she is getting gradually worse and it is only a matter of time:-( Hugs jan xx

Well written. Dementia...one of the fears we have to live with...hoping that it won't erode our life, the older we get. Some people are lucky - my mum lived to be 94 and it was always a pleasure to visit her and hold a lively conversation with her, right to the very end... // paul

It's only since she had a fall in 2009 and 2 bleeds on her brain that this dreadful thing has slowly crept up on her. Am lucky still got mum 91 and dad 90 this yr. I just grieve for how she used to be and how her and all our lives have changed Jan xx

I can only imagine how hard this on you Jan. My father passed away seven years ago and had Dementia with Lewy Bodies. He was only there in body his last year of life...... Hugs Tim

Its hard on me Tim, but worse for dad who has her 24/7. Thankfully she's not that bad at the moment but you can see the progression and the deterioration. Never ever dreamed I would write a poem about it - all down to hubby's cancer and a form of relief for me. hugs Jan xxxx
