Stolen Dream
Child, you were our perfect dream,
a gift above all gifts conferred,
a testament to life and love,
a promise kept, in faith revered.
Held esteem, the flesh and bone,
the eyes alight with infant zeal,
a magnetising wish fulfilled,
a sentiment for all to feel.
Grey shadows spread across the sun,
darker clouds rolled in the sky,
cold instants froze your gentle heart
like God had merely blinked an eye.
So soon, the angels gathered you
and left us woe and wondering
for reasons to enlighten why
your newborn soul was gathered in.
Child, you are our stolen dream,
yet we adore you just the same,
we cherish still your memory
as much as on the day you came.
