The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Still Love

i dont like thinking of you
as something that ended
as if the connection doesn’t transcend
the confinement of a commitment
as if our minds didn’t see
eachother so well
mine still loves yours

i dont mean romantic love
i mean pure
platonic love
not for a feeling you get in your stomach
not a relationship you have to maintain
i mean love
for a person
for a soul
i mean love for their all
who they were
who they are
and who they will be
for their dreams
and their actions
the way they treat the gas station clerk
the way they say thank you out loud
to passing cars

i dont want anything from this type of love
its not anything selfless,
its just contentment
knowing you exist
that you’re out there
somewhere

is it selfless to hope
that you’re happy
