Still Dumbstruck - Dk

By things I see sometimes today I’m dumbfounded and blown away. I’ve seen folks driving far all alone in a car. Covid masks they still wear anyway. I could see once a girl IN the pool. Did a double take because that fool kept the mask on her face (though she swam with such grace), yet there wasn’t a Covid mask rule!! Once I watched from inside hubbie’s truck a cute couple that jogged. What the fruck!? Out in nature they wore covid masks. Furthermore, by themselves were they! I’m still dumbstruck. Aug. 14, 2021 (nothing against masks as mandated! Just a few things I thought were funny) for the Dumbstruck Poetry Contest of Charles Messina

Lindsay, the front line doctors and many reputable virologists I am reading say totally different things than the media's "science" . I feel that I have learned things that many of society are not getting from the media. One has to search it out on other news sources. What I have learned contrasts greatly with the "accepted" ideas. People are accepting the hype on the news because it's all they hear. I believe in a strong immune system and in "not having fear" of covid. Even though I know there is very small chance it could kill me, I prefer to listen to the professionals who do not have a vested interest in Big Pharma and their vaccine. Nuff said. We are all free I hope to form our own opinions and not force things on people against their human rights.

Its a shame you see wearing a mask is useless. Children are getting sick and some are dying. I really don't know where you got your information from. Sorry but I really believe you are playing with peoples lives by saying masks are not needed. I do wear a mask hope you don't mind.

and no, I do not mind at all if you wear a mask. I am around people in the store who wear masks even now. Of course I would never be rude to them. Do you honestly think it is logical to wear a mask while swimming in a pool or driving long distance in a car? I was only joking about unrealistic wearing of masks!!

you did not really read my poem very carefully or you would notice i did not say anything about it being wrong to wear a mask. Though I personally do not believe in it, that is my own business. I am not playing with anybody's life. I keep to myself and there is no proof that an asymptomatic person can spread Covid, so the few times i go out, I am certainly not putting anyone at risk. We have no mask mandates right now. All my friends recovered from Covid and I thankfully never got it. The chances of getting it, much less dying from it, are extremely small. I listen to front line doctors and famous virologists who are speaking a truth different from mainstream media.

Yet still, people are stupid! Perhaps the mask will prevent the mugger. Fine for people to wear masks but to be so afraid you wear it in your car!

You have stirred up some sensitivities here Andrea! A careful read of your poem reveals a tolerance for the beliefs (almost religious!) of others, but acute observations of illogical behaviour - I hope you are never struck dum on this, nor any other subject. Keep up the independent thinking!

there's no scientific basis for mask wearing, in fact they are injurious to human health; a number of doctors have spoken out against their use..the masks are symbolic of a silenced, submissive population..over the past 18 months people have become infantilised so it's rather fitting that the masks act like a baby's comforter..i don't wear one, never have, never will

It is good to hear it is not mandated there now. We can expect the mandates to return, even for the vaccinated in fall and winter. I hear main stores like Walmart will be gearing up.

i wasn't aiming my comment at you, andrea, i know you don't buy into it all :) we don't have to wear them any more in the uk, it's been lifted, but the vast majority are still wearing them anyway wherever they go!

I know all that, Charlotte. I was trying to be "sensitive" to the mask wearers and some of them still took me wrong. I do not wear them at all. I only did it when I was forced to until a few months ago (at this one store I really love shopping at). I probably wore it once a week to go to that place for a little while.

In Malta you can swim without a mask. No one bothers if driving alone without a mask, but with windows closed. Otherwise some funny things with masks. Hugs

of course anyone can swim without a mask. That is why it was so dang funny to see a person doing it and there was not even mandate for a mask at that time!

thanks, Joe. i am taking a lot of heat for my ideals. My brother in law just blasted me on FB. I have a cousin who seems to hate me now. it's so weird. I have no animosity toward these relatives of mine,but sometimes they really do cross the line with me and can be very insulting.

A good parody on the way we behave with masks. My favourite is when you see the mask being worn beneath the nose. My problem... when I am wearing glasses with my mask they get totally fogged up..Delice

lol I have found myself forgetting to take the mask off and driving alone in the car with it on and then feeling rather foolish once I realize it was still on! As to joggers in masks, all I can say is they are fit, fit, fit cos I simply cannot get enough air when gasping thru a mask! As to the pool gal, I hope she was on some dare with friends.. :)

I did that once too, Susan . Between two shops I had to go to which were close together. I drove with the mask and then bet I looked foolish. The line i wrote said people who drive FAR with masks on.

I gotcha, Andrea. I still wear a mask even though it is no longer required in public places because with my health conditions I simply cannot afford to pick up a virus...of any kind. Just a safety precaution. Perhaps some of those folks were in the same situation. Always remember you can't tell what a person's health is by looking at them. Just sayin'.

Milt, there is no danger inside one's own car, swimming in one's own swimming lane or out alone in nature. Nobody in those three situations would be in any danger. I applaud you for being careful in public. Nothing wrong with that!!
