This poem is for the step father who's seen and heard step children/adults abusing their mother and himself, and when he reacts by telling them to stop, by pointing out what is wrong, by becoming angry (but not violent), he is pushed from the one person he loves by his step children/adults, because the step children/adults don't like hearing these truths.

Strapped to the outside, looking back in, Not welcome to where he was from, Staring from out, discarded to scrap, Even though he’d done nothing wrong, And nobody cared how cold he became, How cold he became deep inside, Nobody cared for his emotional life, Nobody knew he’d resigned, From living the life of the get up and go, Of saying a yes on a whim, Of being the one to create happiness, Leaving everyone there with a grin, Because he’d reacted to anger, reacted to rage, Reacted with emotional truth, Because he’d reacted to insults and hurt, He’d reacted to verbal abuse.

Lewis this whole thing is me. An emotional wreck. You capture emotion well. Now I should go and apologize to somebody. Appreciate you writing this.
