Anne Winter Poet Rhyme

STAY

Stay with me
Till the end of the day,
Till I say my last pray,
Till I take my last breath,
Till I go away with death,
Till the memories fade away,
Till my heart stops begging for you to stay,
Till the sea turns to salt,
Till the memories burn in the vault. 

Stay with me, please stay,
I can't go on without you for another day,
Without you I am nothing,
With you I am something. 

The flowers don't look happy when you are not around,
The birds' song, I can hear but the music doesn't have its sound,
I feel my soul shattered laying on a cold heartless ground. 
I feel lost without you but with you I was finally found,
With you I shine but without you I spin soul less on this life's merry-go-round.

You have this incredible gift for capturing that raw, desperate ache of truly loving someone and the terrifying thought of losing them. That line, "With you I shine, but without you I spin soul-less on this life's merry-go-round," is just staggering. It perfectly describes that dizzying, empty feeling when the world keeps moving but you’re just stuck in place, numb. It’s a gorgeous piece of work, Anne. Please keep writing.
