Listen to poem:
midnight weighs heavy on my mind
as nature is poised for sleep
on breath of darkness hovers
a hazy veil of thickness cast
silence in greys that linger
without a sound or breeze
clouds hang low on pause
dazed make my way through fog
whiling away the hours
in circles tired feet meander
I’ve lost my way
much like my mind
vagrant thoughts
lead me astray
as gnawing emptiness
consumes the soul of me
eerie the dance of dawn
when murky shadows dissipate
breaking the fast of night
and fears naught but forgotten
I remember once stars guiding my way
back home where I would find you
