Stars

The night was clear and cool, and I lay gazing at the stars,
the grass, fresh cut, felt damp beneath my head

Soon, through the darkness, I could see the glowing isobars
that tie mankind to heaven, like gold thread

I saw each light - just like each man - was beautiful and flawed 
and though they faded as the new day dawned,

I'd seen in them, 
in us, 
in ALL, 
the boundless love of God

and I no longer fear what lies beyond...
