Starry, Starry Night of Peace

"Starry, starry night," Listen to the words, my friends. In this world of right and wrong, do you wonder if you belong? Listen carefully. It seems that wars will never end. What can poets do, my friends? Warn mankind with love. Close your eyes and see. There is truth and there are lies. Look into those starry skies. Above is where the real truth lies. REFRAIN: Are you listening now? Will you take a stand? Spread your golden wings of love? Do you know how? On a starry night Pick up your magic pens, my friends. Write something that will soak in. It's not enough to wait for war to end. Let us write and rhyme, Write warnings critical to life, Let us write our friends and foes alike Our mission to end the strife Before it ends our life. REFRAIN: Are you listening now? Will you take a stand? Spread your golden wings of love? Do you know how? We are the stars of night. Sparkle your paper now. Let your muses guide your hands. It is the time to write. REFRAIN: Are you listening now? Will you take a stand? Spread your golden wings of love? Do you know how? Lovely piece, my dear. I love the song because Vincent is my favorite artist and I've written a poem about him. I like how you took the melody and brought it to life with this challenge to all of us to bring peace. Beautiful write.

Thank you, Eileen. Yes, I love Van Gogh's art too and this song is close to my heart...as is the desire for peace. Check your soup mail. Carole :)

Beautiful Carole, I really enjoyed your words to this song which incidentally is one of my favorites. I wrote Starry Starry Night also ,which is about bullying if you care to look. In mine i have used the instrumental version, which perhaps might suit the lyrics of yours....Maria

I hear you loud and clear Carole, and you are right, we need to take a stand and 'write something that will soak in'. I love your inspiring poem and the musical accompaniment you chose for it:)

Thank you, Anne-Marie. We really should take a stand for the earth, for peace and for our children. Many poets have done it in the past. It's our turn now.

Yes, it's sad, Darlene, but so is the whole world right now. We are all waiting, waiting for peace to begin, waiting for war to end. I'm going to edit the poem a little now. Thank you so much for reading. Come back again some time. :) Carole

A lovely poem Carole but the answer is, sadly, no. Starry Starry Night seems to be as popular today as it was when it came out. I think everyone likes Van Gogh:)

Hey Danny! :) And, thank you. I'm glad you liked it but...you are probably right. :( However, I pray you/we are wrong. Carole

This was beautiful Carole. Unfortunately I can not hear the song as the youtube site didn't load for me but your poem is melodic enough, it doesn't need any accompaniment. We can only hope that it will be sight and do our best to spread happiness in hops to help it along a little. Really nicely written. (I assume the song was Don McClean's "Starry, Starry Night")

Hi Chris! Yes, it is Don McClean's "Starry, Starry Night" (my favorite song). Sorry you couldn't hear it but thank you for your very nice comment anyway. Carole :)
