Amidst greenery Such beauty abounds in bloom Reaching to the sky This Oriental Lily Shows gorgeous colouration . The Stargazer lily was created in 1974 by Leslie Woodriff, a lily breeder in California. Woodriff called the new cross 'Stargazer', because the blooms faced towards the sky.

this my favorite among the flowers.. :) The name itself has a romantic appeal.. plus it's history... :) when you see the delicate distribution of the color plus the pollen showing up... :) and the intricate curve of each petals beneath.. :)! wow... :) and like Jan said their scent mmmmmmmn!!! :) the flower is as vibrant as your tanka.. :D!

I grew some years ago James had pots and pots of them - was sitting in the garden with friends and he describe the scent as erotic not exotic lol It still makes me giggle:-) Hugs jan xx

Your tanka are always so captivating James.I wish to see one of these flowers you beautifully describe.Going to be in Uk on 3rd December(Rochester).Hoping to visit the highlands again in 2015 0r 2016.Hope all is doinf fine on your side of the moon B-)

It is indeed a most beautiful flower. If you do venture to the Highlands, it would be lovely to say hello. Here in Inverness, I'm fine. Yes, I only knew it as a Lily...but have seen them many times. They are popular in bouquets here in Hawaii, and most beautiful!
