Star Dawn Rising

Why should I live and learn
with so much fun to be had
This is my tale to tell:
opportunities missed -
now makes me sad

I rode in the puddles of a fairground playground
(with the wave of a star-dawn calling me, storing me).
I followed the clattering of live-long intent
(with the minds of a thousand ancient ones imploring me, warning me).
I stole hearts and dragged them through mud
(while a white-golden glow faded into my distant past)

In my mind, I knew what I'd done.
I'd missed my chance - to ride with the sun.
So I cursed myself the only way how:
A path of destruction lay before me now

and

I laughed at trinkets and pitied the weak
(while treasures beyond value faded out of my mind, fast)
I rode hard on every magic thing that money could buy
(when inside my own soul I cried out for mercy)
I trod hard on every finger that lifted to try
(when i knew that my own hands were crippled to dust)

Everything I should have been and wanted to be
I lived for today - ignored signs in front of me.
Now I am weakened, please listen to my tale
For I want you to live true,
'fore your spirit grows pale.
