Stanford Says

The plug was pulled on the prison experiment
While the state plugs away with apparent merriment

While absolute power corrupts absolutely
The people march during pandemic resolutely

" While absolute power corrupts absolutely" - this line is perfect.

British historian Lord Acton coined that one. It is perfect. Hugs, in these dangerous times ;), xomo

Pigeon, nowadays it would be unstoppable, imagine this being played with today's human behavior. Just, wow... the thought is crazy and insane. So good to read this, I imagine this is my first time visiting one of your poems. This pandemic hasn't stopped what was trying to be tied down. Always ~LINDA~

Hello Linda! I have seen your avatar around but didn't think you were still active. I was "Maureen McGreavy" here till my recent nom de plume acquisition. It is a pleasure to finally meet! (my memory is awful though, we may have already) I don't believe our nature is figured enough into policing practices. Knowledge is nothing if it is ignored, sadly. xomo!

I remember learning about the Stanford experiment - this is a thought-provoking turn of phrase! (and I was worried about the covid threat during the marches)

There's an organized march planned tomorrow in my city, requesting all to maintain 2m space and use signs and noisemakers instead of chants etc to reduce spread, and police will be closing off streets to provide more room. Even suggesting finding virtual ways to demonstrate if have symptoms. I'm pretty proud ;), xomo

Our Prime Minister is being criticized for his 20+ seconds of silence. With a neighbour like that with his house on fire, I can't blame him; it is for the opposition to criticize. Thank YOU my friend. xomo

Hey, can I give this poem a plug or two?! Smiles, Gershon (btw: I presume you weren't referring to the 'Stanford Prison Experiment' that was done in the early '70's, I believe. It would be outlawed now. Catch it on You Tube if you can find it. It's BIZARRE!). :) gw

I absolutely am referring to the Stanford University psychology prison experiment of 1971. Human nature spelled out. I hope you are still smiling ;), xomo

I'd never heard of this so had to Google it, seems to me that power given to individuals goes to their heads and they think they're above the law. Tom

It is human nature, as ugly as that is. We have the ability to rise above our nature, but first we must identify it. Where there is a will as they say, there is a way. xomo
