Standing In the Rain
I have what I need and will not sell
Have seeds to sow if you let me tell
Never exchanged and were never bought
I was young when this was taught.
To those without but with a need
Time will sow and bloom from seed
I will pass these out, no need to doubt
When the sun comes up they will sprout
When clouds mingle, who’s to say
Rain won’t fall your way
Standing alone in the beaten pour
Hoping for sun but there is no more
Cloudy days hang overhead
My seeds will fall and spread
Even without the sun they’ll be growing
Love will nourish them after sowing.
An array of flowers will stand with me
Whenever it rains they won’t flee
Not having to be alone now in the rain
My friendship garden stands with me just the same.
Friendship counts when they will stand with you in the rain
not just when the sun is out.
Sometimes that need is more important for support
in times of sorrow and discomfort
A garden needs support to grow in the rain as well
not just in the sun.
the seeds I had could not be bought but had value
to show what true friends will do when it pours
by standing with you in your friendship garden
