St. Patrick even though sold as a slave Did not sulk and become a well-known knave He studied God and creation Came back to save a nation Now people on his day whiskey do crave

Delightful! Whenever I read your fine verses, the day offers a little more glow. The final whiskey line in your Limerick is especially relevant. To boot, I learned something about St Patrick. Be well. Sincerely, Brian

Brian, Yes, people celebrate doing something that St. Patrick probably would not agree with doing at least to the extreme people do it. Thanks for your visits to my page. Sara

Robert, Well, many do celebrate. St. Patrick was a good witness to the country that did him wrong but why he was doing their work for them he learned lessons from God. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Gershon, At one time they dyed the Savannah River green but that stopped. We don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I am aware of the day and I am glad he did what he did to witness to a nation. God had a hand on his life even when he did not believe. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

I don't know all the history of St. Patrick, so I learned from your poem, Sara. Funny how a holy man's life is celebrated today with liquor. Wonder if St. Patty ever drank at all. A delightful read as the holiday approaches, Sara. Enjoyed! Hugs, Carolyn

Carolyn, Well, I don't know if St. Patrick drank or not. I think some people of the cloth do so he could have but not to the point of being intoxicated or for it to be habitual for him. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Oh well done. They drink to his courage I think and his will to do what God sent him to do. Well done. God Bless, JB

Judy, I am sure there is a reason for the drinking. I guess is one is going to drink there is always some reason to do it. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Tom, I think some parades have been cancelled but some people will be out celebrating in and around that time which isn't a good idea for we are so close to the end and once again safely be out. Your visits always delight me. Sara

Hi Sara, I didn’t know Saint Patrick had been sold as a slave. He fared well in the end fortunately. Excellent Limerick to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. Belle

Belle, Look up St. Patrick online and you can read some about his life and how some things that are told about him are just myths. Yes, God blessed him in the end. Thanks for the nice comment. Sara

SS, Yes, a good day to celebrate human rights and anti-slavery. We all know that capturing young women and men then selling them to the highest bidder to be used in the sex traffic trade still is going on. St. Patrick was sold and was used to herd sheep though. Sara

Victor, Some people even though there is a virus will do what they should not do and go celebrate in a large crowd with no masks. Probably a big upsurge in new virus cases in a few weeks. Thanks for dropping by with your kind review. Sara
