Squashed

Watching the parade long ago on Memorial Day Visiting the cemetery, stop and pray Goose bumps appearing as our flag was unfurled A child dreaming he could change the world When did it stop, This dream of change When did they take and rearrange So we no longer see the honest truth Squashed are the dreams of idealistic youth We kill unborn children and we cannot pray The blood on our hands will not wash away For our own good they destroy liberty Squashed are the ones who would disagree A liberalized society with no where to go We are becoming victims of the status quo Laws don’t exist for them to undermine When will our star begin to shine Victory is ours if we will make a stand Before our freedom is forever banned We will overcome what we all despise Squashed will be the deception and alibis

Vince, No man can be a slave who refuses slavery. No man can be slain who freely gives his life and no man can be defeated if he refuses to surrender. Our freedoms can only be stolen if we allow it. I will die in a short while but I will die free. Great Write!!! My anger is hard to kindle. You certainly have the ability to set me ablaze. God Bless, Will

There is a time for war, and a time for peace my friend ... the answer is not our missions but in the resolve of our willingness to die for the ideal of our dream ... Terrific write.

Vince, This is an excellent and truthful poem. And very well written. The loss of freedoms can sneak up on a nation if they aren't watching. Even laws can be unconstitutional, but they usually go unchallanged. Someone gave me a small booklet called American Free Press Citizen's Handbook 2007 edition. It is insightful. Their address is:American Free Press, 645 Pennsylvania Ave. SE Suiite 100 Washington, D.C. 20003 (just in case you want one-) Phone 1-800-6996397. Lovingly, DAne

It seems they have us where they want us, right now. Vince we are old enough to know there was a better life, but some of these poor children may never know. God Bless and keep up your great poetry, your friend, Ron
