Spring's In the Air

swap quatrain

When spring's in the air, sub teachers may cringe;
attention to lessons way off the fringe.
Some minds fixed on "love"; girls fixing their hair.
Sub teachers "may" cringe when spring's in the air.

Makes vice-principals cry long about May
clown acts are common, at least much horseplay.
When your pupils fail to see eye to eye,
long about May makes vice-principals cry.

English lit class buzzin', Keats' Grecian Urn;
write down anything you think you might learn.
Cheap pens sold for a dollar a dozen;
Keats' Grecian Urn, English lit class buzzin'.

Springs in the air, subsitute caught a few.
Class clown showed some special tricks he could do.
Pens flying all around with hidden flair;
substitute caught a few springs in the air.

Thanks, I am honored, Emile. An experience drawn from my days of teaching which I miss; but with the expectations of what COVID-proofing schools entail, I am glad to be retired.

thank you, Funom, I am honored by your flattery. Seldom really very deep; but hopefully the wisdom of my 77 years shines through. God is good; God is patient; God smiles.
