Spring Sonnet

Lipogram Sonnet 4-12-24 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Spring Sonnet Spring bursts out from winter’s silent cocoon, Fluttering luminescence on new wings, Freed up from the midnight’s monochrome womb Silk ribbons of ice melt into wellsprings. Thin borderlines edged in dull grey on white, Feeling the tickle of divine kisses, Explode in hues borrowed from the first light, Colors flit over icy snow with bliss. Gliding on the virgin winds’ new story Neon wings trickle colors on flowers In purple tendrils of yellow glory, From solstice sleep life returns in showers. Young springtime emerges, from restive sleep, Rising with morning - promises to keep.

All together a lovely spring sonnet. As ever, your poem abounds in catchy images and metaphors. The very arrival of spring is made breathtaking through your lovely lines...."Spring bursts out from winter’s silent cocoon, Fluttering luminescence on new wings,". "Midnight's monochrome womb, silk ribbons of ice, neon wings".... et al are some such gripping descriptions. Dear Sam, this is indeed a remarkably sweet sonnet and this goes right into my FAV.

Hi SO! Thank you so much for your profoundly thoughtful feedback to this sonnet! I kept thinking about the stark contrast between the colors of winter and the way color pops in spring with the flowers, blossoms and bulbs sending new shots into the season. Suddenly the world is alive again, everywhere brimming with hope and joy as the days grow longer and warmer and the nights grow shorter and warmer!! Truly it is a season of the miraculous and I feel it deep in my heart and soul. So grateful for your message! Sending you gratitude and all the blessings of spring!!

Hello Sam, Your poem transcends words, evoking the very essence of rebirth and renewal. I just loved the imagery of spring bursting forth from winter's cocoon which speaks to the resilience of the human spirit, while the delicate dance of colors on nature's canvas mirrors the complexities of life's journey. Your sonnet is a testament to the beauty found in both beginnings and endings to embrace each moment with gratitude and grace. Sam, this is deeply moving reflection of the soul's journey through the seasons. - Blessings, Daniel

Impressive, Sam. You captured the true essence of spring in your Sonnet AND will no 'a's" I entered the contest but struggled a bit with it. Yours flows so well and I enjoyed the imagery and alliteration (solstice sleep life returns in showers) Yours should place well in the contest, enjoy your evening, Sara
