Spoken Words

I reach out and take a hand I get a hand shake in return
I smile at someone and like a reflection in a mirror
I get a smile in return
I speak softly to someone and like soft music they speak to me

I hold someone and for a moment the whole world
 seems at peace
But if I speak a harsh word to someone it's like a sharp knife
piercing the very soul
