Spitchwick
Remember when we walked that day?
You went there as a child and jumped
from rocks into the crystal water;
fishing; swinging from a rope.
Remember when we walked that day?
You went to reminisce; to recapture naivety.
The innocence of a childhood
lost to tainted maturity.
Remember when we walked that day?
The countryside unspoiled still.
The sparkling river ever flowing;
taking torrents of teeming water to the sea.
Remember when we walked that day?
My imagination placed me there with you -
even though I had never been -
but we were there, we two....
jumping into crystal water;
fishing, swinging from a rope.
Children laughing, chasing, teasing,
then collapsing to picnic, exhausted by the adventure.
I remember when we walked that day - do you?
