Spectres

...inspired by 'The New Faces' by W.B. Yeats We dead shall walk the hallways unopposed, and lend an air of mystery to paint and plaster peeling, thus exposed when daylight turns to dusk; for there's a faint uneasiness as new ones gather, pested to hear our ghostly whisperings and may have second thoughts, their courage tested; were we not bolder occupants than they?

Wonderful! you have an inspired way of getting so much out of the words you use. I love the way you wander through the thoughts given and the story becomes magic as it unfolds! :)

Keith, this is awesome. I believe in spirits who remain earthbound for one reason or another. Apparently they are drawn to stay in the homes where they once lived. But no, we are not bolder occupants than they! (Thanks for "they" instead of "them") I live in my father's old house and there are times I feel his presence and my mom's here. Actually, I welcome these spiritual connections. Excellent writing, Keith! Love, Carolyn
