Sound of Danger

I sense your presence, not seeing Your shadow flitting about. Without touching you, I can feel The booming beats of your heart. Your sudden scream makes my head throb. I bite down with angry fangs. Contest: Night Creatures, No. 2; Rattlesnake. Written 1/17/15 by Isaiah Zerbst.

Isaiah, a poem with a little "bite" to it. Great use of personification to add to the mystery.

A very good poem written in the first person. The rattlesnake attacks on impulse...not planned. #7 Congrats on your fitting win, Isaiah! // paul

Ouch! I suppose that's the only way a rattlesnake has of fighting back? Oh well, like all creatures; we should leave them be. A well done write!

Isaiah, congratulations on your nice win. I especially like the way you made your night creature speak as the observer rather than the observed. I will fear snakes even more now! Sandra
